Chelvey and Brockley possess a beautiful twelfth century church just a mile from the main Bristol-Weston road towards Clevedon. The South porch doorway dates from 1150 AD and in addition it has many interesting features. Like most churches of this age the fabric is in need of constant care. Currently the tower requires rendering to prevent water penetration and is the subject of much of our fund raising. The church was rewired in 2005 and the new lighting shows its many features to good effect.

The Font

Our villages, our congregation and our church are small in comparison to Backwell with whom we share our benefice. Nevertheless we have a very faithful following who enjoy one of the gems amongst the smaller churches in this part of Somerset.

A brief guide and blank message cards featuring the church are available from the Treasurer.
